The idea of devices for remote stimulation has been around for a while but many of the examples that have hit the market have previously fallen short of their promise, being clunky and anything but sexy. But the SexTech industry has certainly experienced something of a renaissance recently, spearheaded by innovative companies such as Dame and amazing Founders like Véronique Verreault, Cindy Gallop and Christel Le Coq. This is still, incidentally, my favourite-ever name for a SexTech entrepreneur, right up there with the job title of We-Vibe’s spokesperson, Tristan Weedmark, who is a “Global Passion Ambassador.” Why didn’t my career advisor at school run that one past me? Thanks to all that, it’s now much more common to own and regularly use such gadgets – and the smart technology that goes with them – in the bedroom. Masturbation is not only accepted, but actively celebrated as a part of a healthy, #SexPositive life, as the success of companies like OMGYes goes to show.

Further proof of that is in the fact that we got approached to test these We-Vibe products as part of “Masturbation Month” for which the company surveyed 1,800 guys from the UK, US and the Netherlands to gain some insights into their habits.

Almost half of UK men (44%) reportedly felt there were not enough sex toys for men, but that doesn’t mean they should be just for men. Twice as many English men feel that sex toys are for using with a partner, rather than on your own. UK men were more likely to discuss buying a sex toy with a partner, before actually purchasing any product about a third of them also indicated that they saw masturbation as important for keeping good prostate health, but they liked to keep it spontaneous: far more men see masturbation as a spur of the moment decision than a part of their daily ritual (67% vs 28%)All the toys we tested are compatible with the easy to use We-Connect app, opening up options for remote play that take us into science fiction territory. Hats off to the guys at We-Vibe, all these toys are great fun to play with and the seamless connectivity features never get in the way of play. The general quality of all three toys is excellent with top quality silicone and extremely convenient magnetic charging connections that mean they truly are waterproof. The battery life is excellent, no passion-killing flat toys or swapping out AA batteries with slippery hands going on here! The Verge, Pivot and Sync re-define what a sex toy can be and I can’t wait to see what We-Vibe come up with next.
